    Tribute to legend Badar Munir

    Paying rich tributes to the services of legend Pashto Film-star Badar Munir (Late) for the promotion of Pashto Language and Pashto Film Industry, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Culture & Information, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that he was not only a noted film-star of Khyber Pakthunkhwa or Pakistan but was of the whole sub-continent. Mian Iftikhar on this occasion attributed the Cinema road in Peshawar and ordered immediate notification of road withindays and one block of the under-constructionJibran Adeel Cultural Academy with late Badar Munir.he told censor board will be soon established


    This, he stated while addressing the 4th Death Anniversary of late Badar Munir arranged by the Cultural Journalists Forum at Peshawar Press Club as a chief guest. Secretary Culture, Azmat Hanif Orakzai, President Cultural Journalists Forum, Ehtisham Toru, General Secretary Rokhan Yousafzi, President of Badar Munir Federation, Muhammad Javed, President of AWAZ, Tariq Jamal and President of CDs Producers Association, Musafar Khan also addressed on the occasion and paid glowing tributes to late Badar Munir.

    Culture journalists forum president Ihtisham Toru has asked government to take notice of the immoral activities on stage shows conducted in the city’s cinemas and obscene CDs and telefilms breeding violence among youth. has demanded of the government to take serious notice of the illegal and obsene activities being promoted in the garb of Pashtun culture in CDs and telefilms and stage -shows that were bent upon tarnishing image of Pashtuns adding that action should be taken against the perpetrators who were minting money at the cost of breeding violence among younsgters.
    said that CDs and telefilms were busy showing immoral scenes casting negative impact on their minds and which did not have any distant relation to Pashtun society and its social norms . CJF has had several times urged upon the government to form a Censorship Board to curb immoral activities but the latter had not taken any step in this regard so far.

    We deamand that Mian Iftikhar Hussain should arrange for No Objection Certificate –NOC only to those artistes and singers proceeding to Gulf States and other foreign countries for cultural shows/ musical concerts who are harbingers of original Pashtun art and culture and not those who can not even speak Pashto langauge.


    Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that Badar Munir was the crownless king of Pashto Industry who ruled it for about three decades. He added that Badar Munir was the shining star and we all Pakhtuns proud of him. He said that Badar Munir was a natural actor and he reached to this stage on his own capabilities.

    The Culture Minister while expressing his anguish over the obscenity and vulgarity in CDs films said that after 18thConstitutional Amendment, the provincial government was mulling to establish its own Censor Board for it. He, however, said, being people of this society, it was also the responsibility of the CDs Producers to formulate a code of conduct for themselves to stop obscenity and vulgarity in the CDs films so as it could be watched with family members. He added, in this respect , he would soon convene a meeting of the CDs Producers Association.

    The minister refuted the impression that artists of particular nation or language were especially treated furthering that all artists of this land were equally respectable for him and he could not think of discrimination. He assured that there would be no discrimination with any artist rather each one would be given his due respect.
